What a UK hot tub break actually costs
We keep a register of 195 self-catering properties, each one checked before it earns a listing. 76 of them have a hot tub that is private to your booking. This is what they cost, and the headline is not what most people expect.
The finding
The hot tub premium is about 17%
Across our register, the median week in a property with a private hot tub costs£560. The median week without one costs£478. That is a difference of £82 a week — meaningful, but a long way from the doubling people tend to assume when they start looking.
The reason is that a hot tub rarely arrives on its own. It tends to appear on properties that are already positioned as a treat, so a good deal of what looks like the tub premium is really the premium on everything else — the setting, the finish, the seclusion. Filter for the tub alone and the gap narrows sharply.

Cornwall is the cheapest region on our register for a hot tub week
Which is not where most people would guess. The county with the most expensive reputation in the set turns out to have the lowest entry price for a private tub, at £309 a week — while The Lake District runs a median 62% higher for the same amenity. Supply explains most of it: Cornwall has a great deal of self-catering stock competing on price, and the places that added a tub are competing inside that market rather than above it.

By kind of stay
The cheapest route to a private tub is the smallest building
The tub costs a site roughly the same whatever it stands next to, so the price difference between these is mostly the building. If the plan is an evening outside in hot water and a night asleep, the smaller categories deliver the same thing for less.

What share of places actually have each thing
Listings talk about these features as though they were standard. Across our register they are not, and the ones at the bottom of this list are the ones worth filtering for early — by the time you have picked a region and a date, a fire pit or an EV charger has probably decided the question for you.

Method, and what this is not
Read this before you quote it
This is not a survey of the UK market. It is a description of our own register: 195 properties that passed our editorial checks, drawn from the merchant feeds we work with. It is not a random sample, it is not weighted to the national stock, and a different register would produce different numbers. Anyone reporting it should say "according to Snug Hideaways' register" rather than "in the UK".
Prices are from-prices, not quotes. Each figure is the lowest weekly rate the provider was showing for that property across its whole calendar on the date we imported it. Real prices move with dates, and a school-holiday week costs a multiple of these numbers. They are useful for comparing options against each other, and useless as a budget.
"Private hot tub" means private. A tub shared across a park or a courtyard fails our first check and does not appear in these figures at all, which is the main reason our counts are lower than a filtered search on a big travel site.
Every number here is computed from the register when the page is built, not typed by hand, so it cannot drift out of date while the page still claims otherwise. The date at the top is the build date.
